AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) is an international university preparation program that accelerates students into more challenging Advanced Placement and other college preparatory courses. AVID supports students through the AVID elective course by building their academic skills, such as critical reading and writing. Students also receive tutorial support, gain essential information about universities, and complete motivational projects in the AVID elective class. The AVID program provides guidance to students through all four years of the college preparation process. AVID students also attend university field trips throughout the state. AVID students refer to themselves as part of the AVID family as they remain together for four years, growing in a small learning community on their path to college.

Child Development and Education Academy

The CHILD DEVELOPMENT AND EDUCATION ACADEMY trains students for future careers in teaching, child care and other human services including nursing and social work. Students learn about major ideas of human development while gaining hands-on experience with children in our campus child care center. In addition, students will attend field trips to local colleges and museums. This Academy is also valuable for students who don't want to be teachers. Our class projects center around health, psychology and current events. If you are interested in working with people and learning more about yourself this academy could be for you!

Electronics Academy

The ELECTRONICS ACADEMY fosters a family atmosphere among students and teachers. Students progress through the three-year program with the same Academy staff consisting of selected teachers and a counselor. Two-thirds of Academy openings are reserved for students who are considered to be "at-risk" for graduation. Tutoring and individual counseling is available along with field trips to industry, colleges and other sites. The curriculum combines academics with career readiness for a technical and business environment. The Electronics Academy offers national PLTW engineering and computer technology curriculum with full computer lab; resume workshops, mentoring, and internships; Northern and Southern California college tours; and a 98% graduation rate.

Multimedia Academy

The OVERFELT MULTIMEDIA ACADEMY has a mission to prepare students for the exciting and creative career pathway of Arts, Media, and Entertainment field.
